Columbia man arrested after caught attempting to steal vehicle.

On 9-08 -17 at 1:54 pm Columbia Police Officers received a dispatch from Adair County 911 of a Breaking and Entering in progress at Country Place Apartments . The caller advised dispatch that an unknown white male was trying to gain access into a vehicle that didn't belong to him. Officers arrived at the location within minutes and located the perpetrator in the driver’s seat of a silver Nissan car. The window had been broken out and the operator was attempting to leave with vehicle.

   The incident resulted in the arrest of 32 year old Julian Underwood on charges of Criminal Mischief 1st degree and Theft by Unlawful Taking Auto over 10,000 dollars. Underwood was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by CPD Sgt. Gary Roy who was assisted by Sgt. Jr. Murphy.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY

In effect for consurmers of Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers in the Breeding area including 1222 Harrods Fork Circle, Breeding loop, Independence Ridge and all side roads, L Smith Road, Reese Hurt Road and all side roads, 89 Flatrock Road to 1425 Flatrock Road, Chestnut Grove Road and all side roads, Toria Road and all side roads.

The advisory has been issured dur to a main line leak.

Until further notice, boil water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for 3 minutes before using.

Injury Collison on New Columbia Road in Taylor County

 Kentucky State Police investigated a two vehicle injury collision on New Columbia Road at the intersection of South Columbia Avenue today around 8:25 a.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that 41 year-old James Stotts of Columbia was operating a 2001 Dodge traveling north on KY55.  Due to the dense fog, Stotts was unable to see the traffic light at the intersection.  Stotts entered the intersection striking a 2011 Toyota being driven by 21 year-old Carlie Hazel of Campbellsville.  Hazel was attempting to make a left hand turn onto New Columbia Road from South Columbia Avenue when the collision occurred. 

Stotts and Hazel were both wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.  A passenger in the Stotts vehicle 33 year-old Natasha Stotts of Columbia was not wearing her seat belt at the time of collision.  All three persons were transported to Taylor Regional Hospital by Campbellsville Taylor County EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

Sgt. Jason H. Morris is investigating and was assisted by the Taylor County Sherriff’s Office, Campbellsville Police and Campbellsville Fire Department.

Two early morning single vehicle accidents have sent two persons to TJ Health of Columbia.

On 09-06-2017 at approximately 0550 Deputy Josh Durbin and Deputy Rainwater responded to the Louie B Nunn Parkway where a 2000 Dodge Caravan being operated by Stefan Williams of Lewisburg KY was traveling east bound when he ran off the roadway and struck a guardrail. Williams was treated on scene by Adair County EMS and transported to TJ Health of Columbia where he was cited by Deputy Durbin for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

On 09-06-2017 at approximately 0815 hrs Deputy Aaron Rainwater was dispatched to the 44 mile marker of the Louie B Nunn Parkway for a single vehicle accident with injuries. 22 year old Paige Adams of Somerset KY was traveling west bound when she advised another vehicle forced her off the road. Adams struck an earth embankment and was trapped in the vehicle for approximately 15 minuets before being extricated by members of the Adair County Fire Department. Adams was treated on scene by Adair County EMS and transported to TJ Health of Columbia for further treatment.

ARREST MADE IN CHURCH & GARAGE BREAK-INS, NUMEROUS STOLEN ITEMS RECOVERED

An investigation by Sheriff Clete McAninch & Deputy Ethan Pike has resulted in the arrest of two persons and the recovery of numerous items stolen last week from a church and a garage.

Late Friday night, Bradley Hicks, 39, of Russell Springs, was arrested by Sheriff McAninch & Deputy Pike and charged with breaking into the Faith General Independent Church on KY 76 West in the Webbs Crossroads community. More arrests are forthcoming in that case.

At 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Christopher L. Pickett, 39, of Wooldridge Schoolhouse Road, Jamestown, was taken into custody by Deputy Evan Burton & Deputy Nathan Ginn on a warrant sworn-out by Deputy Pike in connection with the burglary of Kelly Comer’s garage on Old Columbia Road, Russell Springs. More arrests are forthcoming in that case as well.

Several items stolen from the Faith General Independent Church and numerous tools stolen from Comer’s garage have been recovered. Additionally, several items stolen from the Thomas Ridge Christian Church in Dunnville have also been recovered.

The investigation is ongoing.

A Russell Springs man was arrested Saturday afternoon for trafficking in drugs and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Thomas Blackburn, 34, was taken into custody after being found passed out in a vehicle off KY 76 South on Glenn Drive. Two small children were also in the vehicle.

Blackburn was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree after Deputies found several grams of Methamphetamine in individually wrapped packets.

Blackburn was processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.

The arrest was made by Sheriff Clete McAninch, Deputy Ethan Pike, Deputy Evan Burton & Deputy Lucas Justice.

TWO PERSONS IN CUSTODY AFTER STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED NEAR JAMESTOWN

An investigation by Lt. David Cain resulted in the arrest of two persons Sunday morning and the recovery of a vehicle reported stolen by the Alexandria Police Department in northern Kentucky.

While on patrol, Lt. Cain observed a 2017 Ford car near the old Greasy Creek Bridge off U.S. 127 South. Upon approaching the vehicle, Lt. Cain found Aaron Banks, 29, of Jamestown, and Ashley Crystell Petrosky, 29, of Miamisburg, Ohio, sleeping inside the car. Further investigation revealed the car had been reported stolen.

Banks and Petrosky were both arrested and charged with receiving Stolen Property Over $10,000 in value.

Banks was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Opiates), Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Banks was also served with a warrant for Wanton Endangerment in connection with an incident in Jamestown several weeks ago.

Both were processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.

A traffic stop Monday afternoon on the 127 bypass in Jamestown resulted in the arrest of a Russell Springs woman on multiple charges including illegal drug possession.

Deputy Evan Burton stopped a 2013 Nissan truck just after 3:30 p.m. being operated by Mary A. Gadberry, age 46. Deputy Burton’s partner, K-9 Matt, alerted to the odor of a controlled substance emitting from the vehicle. A subsequent search resulted in the discovery of three packets containing Methamphetamine.

Gadberry was arrested and charged with DUI, Driving on a Suspended License and Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree-Meth.

She was processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.

 Columbia, Ky. (September 5, 2017) – Dylan Jess McFarland was located and arrested late Friday, September 1st, 2017.

G Cheatham Road in Adair Closed

County Road Foreman Terry Corbin would like to alert the public that G. Cheatham Rd. will be closed temporarily to replace a road tile. Mr. Corbin is anticipating the work to be completed and the road reopened by Friday weather permitting.

The Kentucky State Police are attempting to locate 28-year-old Dylan Jess McFarland.  McFarland is a white, 5'11", 200 lb, white male with black hair and brown eyes.  He is a registered sex offender.  A warrant for probation violation has been issued and he is believed to be in the Monroe County area.  If anyone has any information regarding his whereabouts, please contact the Kentucky State Police at 1800-222-5555, Tompkinsville Police Department at 270-487-6191 or the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department at 270-487-6622.  A photo is attached.

Columbia, Ky. (September 1, 2017) – Tpr. Levi Scott is investigating a collision that occurred today at approximately 6:50 AM CST at the 44 mile marker on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway.  38-year-old Kelly Crawhorn was operating a westbound 2013 Dodge Journey and, after overtaking a semi truck, hit a pool of water that caused her to lose control of the vehicle.  The vehicle entered the median and overturned before coming to rest in the eastbound lane.  

Crawhorn and 2 passengers, 13-year-old Alley Crawhorn and 9-year-old Kenzy Crawhorn, both of Columbia, were transported to TJ Sampson hospital where they were treated and released.  All three were wearing seatbelts.
