 A BOIL WATER ADVISORY is in effect for consumers of Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers from 7917 Burkesville Road to 9135 Burkesville Road, Antioch Church Road, F Burris Road, Bird Road, D Gowen Road, R Gowen Road .

The advisory has been issued due to main line Leak.


Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality.

Post 15 to conduct safety traffic checkpoints

Columbia, Ky. (November 2, 2017)Kentucky State Police, Post 15 will be conducting safety traffic checkpoints in the Post 15 area, which includes Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, Casey, Russell, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton and Cumberland. Troopers will be checking for impaired drivers, children that are not properly restrained in child safety seats and informing the public about the use of seatbelts. These safety checkpoints will be conducted in various locations throughout the Post 15 area that are experiencing a high ratio of vehicular crashes resulting in injury and/or death compared to relatively low safety restraint usage ratio.

Taylor County Injury Collision


Columbia, Ky. (November 2, 2017)Trooper Pete Binkley is investigating a collision that occurred at 5:57 AM EST on KY 210 at the intersection of Attila Rd. in Taylor County.  57-year-old Lowell Keith Cochran, of Louisville, was operating a northbound 2005 Chevrolet passenger car on KY 210 when he hydroplaned, left the roadway and  overturned. Cochran was ejected from the vehicle  and was flown from the scene to University of Louisville hospital. Trooper Binkley was assisted at the scene by the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department.

         An investigation by members of the Russell County Sheriff’s Department resulted in the arrest of a Russell Springs woman Monday afternoon

Jelena Meece, 39, of Geneva Drive, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Sunoco on U.S. 127 and charged with Conspiracy to Traffic in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree-Methamphetamine.

Meece was processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing by Deputy Evan Burton & Det. Joey Hoover.

Injury Collison on US127 in Clinton County

Albany, KY (October 30, 2017) Kentucky State Police investigated a two vehicle injury collision on US 127, 4 miles south of Albany today around 1:51 p.m. CST.

Preliminary investigations indicate that 53 year-old Jeffery Cornett of Albany was operating a 1995 Ford Dump Truck traveling north on US127.  Cornett struck the rear of a 2009 Nissan being operated by 51 year-old Sheila Turner of Livingston, TN who was attempting to make a left hand turn. 

Turner and a passenger 28 year-old Corey Jackson of Livingston, TN were both transported to the Clinton County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries by Clinton County EMS.  All parties were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Sergeant Randy Honeycutt is investigating and was assisted by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Fire and EMS

  Columbia Police Department arrest 3 on drug trafficking charges 

   Officers  have executed three sealed Indictments  of Arrest  for drug trafficking charges in Adair County . The arrest came after CPD Detective Brad Scholl initiated an drug investigation  into the individuals and the possibility of them being involved in the illegal sale or distribution of controlled  substances .

3o year old Joseph Harrison was arrested and charged with 2 counts of trafficking in a controlled substance 1 st degree methamphetamine

19 year old Dakota Stotts was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree Methamphetamine

46 year old John Giles was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1 st degree 1st offense .

All three were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail . Det. Brad Scholl is continuing the investigation with more arrest forthcoming

Adair County Sherriff’s Office make drug arrest

On October 27, 2017 the Adair County 911 Center received a call of multiple subjects with guns in a yard on Old Pellyton East Road in Columbia Kentucky. Sheriff Harrison Moss, Deputy Justin Cross, Chief Deputy Aaron Rainwater and Kentucky State Trooper's from surrounding counties responded to the call. Upon arrival a male subject was located at a neighboring resident, advising that he had been shot at and was able to flee to safety at a nearby residence. Once at the scene of the incident at 701 Old Pellyton East Road, a firearm was located outside the residence and evidence that lead Deputies to believe it had been discharged.

  A search warrant was obtained for the property where a large amount of methamphetamines, pills and marijuana was seized. Also seized were numerous hand guns along with numerous shotguns and rifles.

Benjamin Shroyer age 38 of Columbia was arrested on active warrants, Jeffrey Bryant age 34 of Columbia was arrested on charges of Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, burglary 3rd degree, trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamines and trafficking in marijuana less than five pounds. Kenny Webb II was also arrested on charges of Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamines and trafficking in marijuana less than five pounds. All three were lodged in the Adair County Jail. Deputy Justin Cross is investigating the case. More charges are likely pending.
