A BOIL WATER ADVISORY is in effect for consumers of Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers on Bomar Heights and all side streets, Wendy’s, from 706 Burkesville Street to the stoplight at bypass. The advisory has been issued due to a main line leak.                  

Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality.

The Adair County Sheriff's Office Responds to a vehicle collision with injury accident.

On Thursday December 28, 2017. The Adair County Sheriff's Office responded to the 39 mile marker of the Cumberland Parkway for a single vehicle collision. Preliminary investigation determines Erb Roution of Greensburg was operating a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee East bound. When the vehicle veered into the median and the operator over corrected the vehicle. The vehicle then slid out of control striking the guard rail causing the vehicle to flip before landing on all four wheels. Erb Roution and passenger Norman Roution was transported from the scene by Adair County EMS to TJ Health Columbia and later transported by THI and Air Evac to University of Kentucky Hospital. The Adair County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by Columbia Police Department, Adair County Fire Department, and Adair County EMS.


Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss reports that on Sunday morning at approximately 5:15AM Deputy Josh Durbin Conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Hyundai being operated by 24 year old Justin Bledsoe of Adair County on Knifley Road in the Egypt community. After a Roadside investigation Bledosoe was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Bledsoe was placed in custody and charged with No tail Lamps, License to be in possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of meth.

Deputy Durbin is the investigating officer.

House Fire Victims Need Assistance

The family of Eventis and Frances Warren of Robinson Ridge Rd Knifley lost their home and all contents Sunday morning due to a fire. Eventis wears in pants 36/29,shirts large and shoes 7/8.  Frances wears skirts xl preferably with elastic,blouses large and shoes 7.5 or 8 (wide width).  Any and all items clothes or household items would be greatly appreciated.  Items may be dropped off at Adair County Clerks Office 424 Public Square Columbia Ky.  Phone 270-384-2801.

Post 15 to conduct safety traffic checkpoints

   Columbia, Ky. (January 2, 2018)– Kentucky State Police, Post 15 will be conducting safety traffic checkpoints in the Post 15 area, which includes Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, Casey, Russell, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton and Cumberland. Troopers will be checking for impaired drivers, children that are not properly restrained in child safety seats and informing the public about the use of seatbelts. These safety checkpoints will be conducted in various locations throughout the Post 15 area that are experiencing a high ratio of vehicular crashes resulting in injury and/or death compared to relatively low safety restraint usage ratio.
