A one vehicle wreck around 9:15 a.m. Sunday claimed the life of a Russell County man.

Lt. David Cain’s investigation determined that Charles Curtis Reeder, 52, of 2440 South Highway 379, Jamestown, lost control of his 1996 Dodge truck while eastbound on KY 1058, resulting in the truck leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

Reeder was pronounced dead at the scene by Russell County Coroner Mike Reynolds.

Fire In Adair County

The Adair County Fire Department responded Sunday morning at 9:05 am to a residential camper fire, at 1076 Green Hills Road.  The camper was owned by Ricky Fields and occupied by Justin Fields at the time of fire.   There were15 firemen on the scene for approximately 30 minutes and the camper was a total loss.  

Injury Accident Report From Adair County Sheriff Office

Sheriff Harrison Moss reports that the Adair County Sheriffs Office responded to a single vehicle injury accident around four miles down Greensburg Road on September 30,  2017.

41 year old Eric Cooley of Willisburg Kentucky was driving west on Greensburg Road when he ran off the left shoulder of the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Cooley was transported by Adair County EMS to TJ heath in Columbia for treatment of his injuries. Drugs are believed to be a contributing factor in the accident. Deputy Josh Durbin is the investigating Officer with charges pending.

Paving operations delayed a couple days on Main Street in Russell Springs

Due to a delay with machinery the paving operations that were set to begin tomorrow, Oct. 3, will now begin on Thursday, Oct. 5 on Main Street (KY 379) in Russell County.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is scheduled to perform milling operations later this week on Thursday and Friday afternoon, with full paving operations being performed on Monday, Oct. 9 and Tuesday, Oct. 10. 

During these operations on street parking will be closed and the roadway will be reduced to one lane with traffic controlled by flaggers. Sidewalks will remain open.

Work will be performed during the day and nighttime hours.

These paving operations are part of an ongoing resurfacing project of KY 379 beginning at the intersection of KY 55 and ending at the intersection of U.S. 127.

The starting date and duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time in reaching their destination.
